Physicians’ Primary Care of Southwest Florida is a premier physician owned and managed primary care practice with locations in Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres. We are currently seeking a Medical Technologist for our full service Laboratory in Cape Coral.
Sample of Responsibilities:
- Assists the clinic physician in making a medical diagnosis by accurately performing and reporting all in-house laboratory testing procedures.
- Identifies and labels specimens correctly.
- Reports STAT and critical results to the provider or MA.
- Enhances the efficiency and accuracy of lab testing by maintaining adequate laboratory supplies, by keeping equipment in operational condition and by maintaining a clean and orderly laboratory work area.
- Assists in the preparation of monthly statistical reports for analyzer QC.
- Communicates effectively with office staff
- Maintains quality assurance of the Laboratory by performing proficiency testing.
- Enhances professional growth and development though in-service meetings and education programs.
- Maintains professional and compassionate conduct in the presence of our customers and patients.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA and CLIA standards and any other regulations or guidelines for the clinical setting.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and protected health information (PHI) in a manner consistent with HIPAA.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in a health-related or scientific field is required; a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology is preferred.
- Must hold a Florida State License as well as, be certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathologists.
- One year experience as a clinical Medical Technologist is required; two years experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform routine and stat blood and urine tests. Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to perform quality control checks.
- Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate with laboratory staff. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients and medical staff.
- The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures/backgrounds is required.
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing or verbally. Able to effectively communicate through the telephone system when reporting critical results.
