DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plan and prepare menus to ensure healthy and nutritionally sound meals.
2. Prepare shopping lists and oversee the purchasing of all needed food items and kitchen supplies.
3. Ensure the proper and safe storage of all food, perishable and otherwise, and kitchen supplies.
4. Perform weekly inventories of all food items and kitchen supplies.
5. Ensure that inventory of perishable and non-perishable food items is maintained in accordance with applicable state and federal requirements.
6. Ensure clients have access to fruit, milk and healthy snacks between meal periods.
7. Ensure that alternate healthy meals are available for clients with special dietary needs.
8. Ensure that meals are prepared using health conscious methods.
9. Ensure that meals are tasty and presented in an appetizing manner.
10. Maintain kitchen, food storage areas, and food preparation areas in a manner consistent with the highest standards of cleanliness and orderliness.
11. Monitor the use of leftovers and snack items to ensure that waste is kept to a minimum.
12. Ensure that meals are prepared in appropriate quantity to ensure that all get enough yet non is wasted.
13. Monitor kitchen physical plant to ensure compliance with CCL, County Health , and Federal Food Programs
14. Provide other needed assistance to Housekeeper as directed.
15. Supervise and train clients in work activity projects.
16. Perform other necessary and relevant duties as directed by the CEO, Sr. Program Director , Program Director, or other designated administrative representative.
- Minimum high school diploma / general equivalency diploma, 21 years or older
- Excellent communication skills, judgment and problem-solving skills, able to assume responsibility
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff
- Ability to follow MVCFS policies and procedures
- Maintain a professional appearance
- Experience in food preparation
- Knowledge of safe food handling procedures, nutritional needs of children
- Valid California Driver’s License
