Restaurant Services is a dynamic company that owns and operates a number of QSR locations both in the state of Virginia and North Carolina and is currently seeking to fill the position of Human Resources Manager.

The Human Resources Manager develops, implements, and maintains company policies and procedures. This position also plans, designs, and implements all Human Resources activities including recruitment, staffing, compensation, employee relations, payroll management, benefits, training, and safety initiatives. The HR Manager ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state employment laws and requirements.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Implement and maintain human resources processes including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health benefits, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations, retention, and legal compliance.
  • Prepare, process, verify, finalize and reconcile the payroll process.
  • Process candidate background checks. Process offer letters and new hire paperwork as required. Enter all payroll data and information into payroll database. Maintain all electronic data as necessary.
  • Communicate to management and all benefit eligible employees and deliver annual open enrollment meetings and process all benefit elections. Enroll new hires as they become eligible. Administer all benefit programs including health, dental, life insurance, short and long term disability, 401(k), etc.
  • Manage all employee leaves of absence, worker’s compensation cases and unemployment claims and responses.
  • Manage human resources operations by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing staff job contributions; maintaining compensation; accumulating resources; resolving problems; implementing change as needed.
  • Guide management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization values. Conduct employee exit interviews to gather information.
  • Conduct employee investigations and advise management regarding appropriate resolution of issues.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Plan company events

Qualifications and Skills * Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret general business journals, procedures, and government regulations. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from groups and/or individual employees and managers.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Moderate to strong computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other applicable software programs.

Experience/Education/Certification Requirements: * Bachelor’s degree and minimum 3-5 years of experience in HR field and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in Human Resources field

  • HR Certification in SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour
