Help Desk Technician Job at Washington County, OR
Washington County Information Technology Services (ITS) Division is seeking an energetic individual with a passion for service and Information Technology. The Help Desk Technician will work with clients to identify and remediate operational issues and problems experienced by users of County networked computer hardware and software applications, providing direct advice and assistance when possible, utilizing appropriate office communications tools. This position serves as the first point of contact for customers seeking assistance over the phone, email, or ticketing platform and works with our tier 2 support on escalations.
The Ideal candidate must have great customer service skills with the ability to translate technical details into user-friendly language suitable for customers with little to no experience. In addition, they should be well versed in enterprise Operating Systems, remote access solutions, audiovisual technologies, mobile devices, and monitoring a variety of security solutions. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge in Operating and maintaining a variety of network and computer hardware and software applications, including networking basics and peripheral equipment; data processing terminology and methodology; modern office procedures; and practices and methodologies for providing effective customer service. Additionally, in this position the skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals and groups who come from diverse backgrounds and represent members of the public, coworkers, and/or vendors is essential.

Education and Experience:
One (1) year or 45 credits of college-level coursework in computer science or a closely related field; OR- One (1) year of experience providing computer hardware and software support (applicable certifications may substitute for the education and experience requirements).
- Incumbents will be required to participate in an extensive background check.
- Must successfully pass an extensive background investigation.
Selection Process:
1. Applications will be reviewed by Human Resources after the closing deadline for minimum qualification screening.
2. If needed, a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Panel will perform an evaluation of experience and training taken from your employment application materials to include responses to supplemental questions.
3. Candidates that successfully pass the previous screening steps will be referred to the hiring manager for an interview.

This is a non-represented position and is not covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
Regular and limited duration full-time employees working 30 hours or more per week and job share employees are eligible for benefits beginning on the first of the month following employment. Job share employees are responsible for 50% of the premium. Part-time regular, variable hour, and temporary positions are not eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits.
