INFRASTRUCTURE MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

NON-EXEMPT

The beautiful tree-lined City of New Carrollton is a residential community located in suburban Prince George's County, approximately eight miles from Washington, D.C. New Carrollton has a diverse population of over 12,500 residents.

The City of New Carrollton is seeking a highly-skilled, self-motivated full-time Infrastructure Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the repairs of sidewalks, potholes, storm drains, sump pumps and the maintenance of the City facilities. The Infrastructure Maintenance Supervisor's oversees a Laborer, Driver, and an Equipment Operator. This position reports directly to the Director of Public Works. The ideal candidate must be a team motivator with the ability to quickly handle personnel matters that may arise; possessing an inclusive and collaborative style of leadership is a must.

Qualified applicants must have (6) six years of supervisory experience in repairing and maintain streets, roads, sidewalks, and storm drains. A valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required. Trenching and Excavating and/or Public Infrastructure Inspector Certifications are a plus. Prior experience operating heavy equipment such as a dump truck, loader and/or a backhoe is a must. Work assignments for this position are performed primarily outdoors with exposure to loud noise, moving machinery, dirt, dust, debris, chemicals, and foul odors. Must have a clean driving record for a minimum of (12) consecutive months. Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus. Salary starts at $51,902.00; however, pay commensurate with experience.

TYPICAL TASKS

Supervises and participates with the crew when repairing sidewalks, potholes, pipes, storm drains and minor road construction.


Prepares performance appraisals and conducts individual meetings with employees to review the past year's performance.


Conducts minor maintenance and repair of City facilities.


Removes tree stumps throughout the City.


Assigns daily tasks to crew members.


Conducts daily maintenance vehicle checks.


Assists with snow removal, leaf collection, refuse collection, grass cutting and maintenance of Public Works Yard.


Replaces traffic signs throughout the City.


Performs related work as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

Knowledgeable of necessary safety measures to use when working with heavy equipment; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city officials, employees, property owners, residents and the general public; ability to perform strenuous tasks for extended periods of time in various types of weather, and lift up to (50) fifty pounds on a regular basis and 100 pounds on an occasional basis.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Six years of supervisory experience in streets, municipal maintenance and repair, or closely related experience. Any satisfactory combination of experience, education, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be deemed acceptable.
