POSITION DETAILS

Sandblasting Technician Lead is responsible for ensuring all Sandblasting processes are performed within FDA and client standards, safety compliance, and quality check assurance, must have the ability to provide technical assistance other staff members within the Paint Department.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Expert-Level knowledge of operating sandblasting booth, equipment, and sandblasting process to a variety of metals while following client specifications.
• Properly label and safely store newly received blast media, solvents, and other sandblasting related materials.
• Properly document all sandblasting material activities including completions, issues, errors, inventory needs, equipment issues or problem resolutions.
• Ensure employees keep area clean and safe for both AM /PM SHIFT use.
• Ensure relevant departmental equipment is stocked, including respirator or air make-up devices
• Provide support/coaching with other team members as needed.
• When applicable, provide communication to the team concerning production schedules or changes, and as needed Company related information relevant to the sandblasting department.
• Ensuring proper maintenance and operation of sandblasting equipment; Cleans and maintains equipment including blast booth and changing filters.
• Disposing wastes as required, while following the regulations
• Proper use of PPE always includes respirator or air make-up device.
• Able to load and unload parts
• Ensures sandblasting production area follows OSHA and MIOSHA regulations.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree (or) Associates degree and Certifications relevant to position/industry, (or) Equivalent Professional Experience required
• Ability to take initiative, problem solve, and maintain confidentiality is required
• 5+ years knowledge of blast booth/ equipment required
• Expertise in Aluminum blast application required
• Compliance with a wide variety of regulatory requirements including hazardous materials, blast booth/equipment standards, fire safety, personal safety, and air quality required
• Ability to wear protective equipment including, but not limited to, supplied air hood respirators and protective clothing required
• Manual dexterity, strength, endurance, flexibility, and the ability to see details at close range are required. Sufficient mobility requirements include but are not limitied to: the ability to bend, stoop, carry heavy objects - up to 70 pounds, kneel, lift, and climbing ladders as required.
• Performs other job duties as assigned
