Overview: Discover Books promotes the online sale and redistribution of hard copy books. They have multiple locations throughout the US, with a cross dock location located in Halethorpe, MD. At this location, new inventory book comes into the warehouse and is evaluated for sale online or sale to manufacturing companies as raw paper materials. Products are sorted and shipped to their fulfillment centers across the US.

NOTE: EMPLOYMENT is PENDING successful completion of criminal Background Check and immediate Drug Screen.

The following shifts are available:

• 1st shift FT (Monday-Friday, 7:00AM - 3:30PM

Role and Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

• Properly place books on an automation line for scanning
• Follow department procedures regarding proper processing, sorting, and packaging
• Stage product for loading/supply line as needed using a manual pallet jack
• Put boxes together; properly place books in boxes
• Manage workflow & keeping work areas clean & organized
• If you have keyboarding skills (25 WPM), you may be selected to participate in book research to evaluate condition of books for pricing

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• Must be able to lift at least 35 pounds from floor to waist, with minimal breaks of no longer than 10-15 minutes
• Must be able to stand for 8+ hours a day
• Ability to learn and apply new concepts, communicate easily, and come up with solutions to problems
• Must have the ability to stand, push, and pull at least 50 pounds repeatedly at various times throughout the day
• Self-starter – Must be able to work with little supervision
• Excellent attendance and punctuality are required; Ability to work overtime as needed
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend conversational English to be able to read stock orders, safety rules, and instructions in the use of equipment
• Safety oriented
• Must be able to listen and follow onsite management direction with positive attitude
