Waiver Services Specialist

The Waiver Services Specialist is responsible for the enrollment, tracking, and maintenance of Waiver certifications and re-certifications for Waiver enrollees who are supported by Community Living Services. The Specialist must have knowledge of waiver services offered in Michigan such as the Habilitation Supports Waiver (HSW) Program, Children’s Waiver, Autism Waiver, and any other Waiver programs that become available. The Specialist provides both direct services and the coordination and oversight needed to assure Waiver certifications are current, signed, and authorized consistent with the person’s Individual Plan of Service (IPOS). They will track and verify individual enrollment status via the state database and assist with completing the recertifications process before expiration of the current certification. This position will serve as our CLS liaison and representative for all Waiver benefit plans.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Service field with a current license as a Licensed Bachelor’s Social Worker (LBSW) with the State of Michigan and credentialing as a Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP).
  • At least one year of experience providing Waiver services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

  • Passing a TB test and drug screen
  • Passing a Criminal Background Check
  • Passing other checks required for your position (e.g., OIG, NPDB, SAM, etc.)

  • Access to reliable transportation that meets travel requirement

About Us:

Community Living Service’s Wayne County division, located in Wayne, Michigan, provides supports for people of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Wayne County. We assist people in developing a Person-Centered Plan and then create an individualized budget based on that plan. Our contract with the Detroit Wayne Mental Health Authority (DWMHA) is designed to assist people in developing and controlling individualized budgets to pay for their authorized supports and services. This puts the resources in the hands of people and their families so they can judge whether the services are of good value to them so they can make their own life decisions.

CLS connects people/families with qualified individuals and Provider agencies and can assist in the interview process to help people decide who they would like to provide their services and supports. A Fiscal Intermediary will then make payments on the person’s/family’s behalf for the services chosen and will provide a monthly report, so everyone knows how much their services cost and how much money is left in their individualized budget. This offers flexibility and creativity regarding how to use the financial resources and whom to choose for services and supports.
