Job Summary:
Assist Triage RN with in-taking calls from patients and Diagnostic Departments. Properly transfers Triage calls to Triage RN.
Job Functions:
- Exhibit excellent customer service internally and with patients and other external contacts.
- Contact pharmacy for prescription refills or newly ordered medications
- Direct messages from the line to appropriate nurses and doctors as needed for any controlled or narcotic medication requests or written requests.
- Handle all phone calls and faxes regarding prior authorizations and communicate all the proper information to Prior Authorization daily.
- Document all conversations and actions in patient’s medical record and any supporting logbook
- Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary. Minimize non-productive time and fill slow periods with activities that will enable you to prepare to meet the future needs of the System (education, organizing, housekeeping and assisting others). Organize job functions and work area to be able to effectively complete varied assignments within established time frames.
- Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
- Medical Assistant or Pharmacy Tech Certification perferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Current AHA Healthcare Provider training (BCLS) required.
- 1-2 years of medical office experience required.
- Stay calm under pressure
- Use good judgment
- Follow approved protocols.
