TRANSPORTATION OPERATIONS / DISPATCHER Job at Americana Worldwide
SUMMARY:
Americana Worldwide is seeking a Transportation Operations/Dispatcher for precision shipping of high-value properties. Fast-paced office environment requiring attention to detail to service our clients with an extremely high level of service accountability.
This position includes posting loads, using our existing carrier base, and constant carrier base additions to book and monitor time-sensitive shipments. Special consideration for candidates with Van Lines, Trade Show, and Expedite experience. Daily, you will be taking inbound calls in addition to monitoring and supporting drivers and carrier companies to ensure all shipments deliver on time with a world-class level of service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
▪ Coordinate, track, and schedule shipments to customers and warehouse facilities to ensure accurate on-time pickups and deliveries, focusing on convention centers for expositions nationwide.
▪ Negotiate pricing with shipping carriers to appropriately and efficiently facilitate freight movement, including handling surcharges that may be incurred within a shipment.
▪ Actively communicate and cooperate with team members and managers to understand customer expectations and identify carriers to fulfill customer needs and requirements; including calling and emailing shipping carriers daily for ETA status updates and pickup/delivery confirmations.
▪ Maintain relationships with carrier service providers, FTL, LTL, Freight forwards, other Operations Managers, and Trade show reps, as well as identify new shipping carriers to increase Americana’s logistics capacity.
▪ Liaison with carrier customer service representatives, dispatchers & drivers to resolve service issues to ensure carrier/customer satisfaction and retention to uphold and provide Americana’s world-class logistics service.
▪ Manage, maintain, and keep updated on Americana’s Salesforce TMS platform for all information related to transportation such as quotes, carrier information, shipped loads, and pick-up/delivery statuses.
▪ Study different means of transportation available for freight, offering various solutions to meet all company transportation needs.
▪ Continue to develop knowledge in all areas of the industry to become well-diverse in logistics and freight brokering.
▪ Consult and converse with the team to discuss issues, coordinate activities, and resolve problems.
▪ Identifies opportunities and risks within the business that may impact the business environment and ability to deliver commitments.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education and/or Experience
- 2-5 years of logistics experience (Required)
- Possesses 2-5 years of experience in logistics management, warehouse shipping / receiving management (Required)
- Previous Freight Broker experience (Preferred)
- Forward-facing client/customer relationship management (Preferred)
- Experience with convention centers (Preferred)
- Associates Degree in Logistics or relevant field and 1-year experience managing teams (Preferred)

Computer Skills
- Intermediate Excel skills, basic Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint
- Salesforce skills (Preferred)
Language Skills
- English (Proficient in reading, writing, and verbal)
- Bilingual (verbal) is desirable

- Intermediate

- Comprehensive knowledge of LTL, Truck Load, and the current trucking marketplace trends.
- Highly developed organizational and people skills.
- Good communication skills are essential, as is the ability to build and maintain positive business relationships with internal and external customers.
- Ability to function within a group of dynamic individuals; obtaining an in-depth understanding of each client’s diverse needs.
- Must have excellent customer service skills, requires the ability to self-direct, and work without supervision.
