Job Description:

This is professional engineering work focused on the management of MaineDOT bridges and other structures. This position is an important member of the Bridge Management team responsible for the optimal programming of Bridge Capital Projects for the Work Plan, reporting on bridge performance measures and bridge needs¸ administering the bridge management system (BMS) software, and implementation of the Keeping Our Bridges Safe report. Duties may also include conducting bridge inspections as needed. Experience and aptitude with databases and data management is preferred along with bridge engineering experience. This position interacts with the Bridge Program, the Bridge Maintenance Division, and the Bureau of Planning.

To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:

Licensure as a Professional Engineer which includes at least two (2) years of work experience which demonstrates independent design, engineering analysis based on established standards, and progressively responsible work overseeing complex engineering projects with increased accountability.

Minimum qualifications for those applying under the Assistant Transportation Engineer classification must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related field -OR- non-engineering college graduates and non-degreed candidates must possess a Certification of Engineer-Intern as issued by the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers. The Assistant Transportation Engineer classification is a Salary Range $49,836.80 - $67,204.80/annually (Salary Schedule).***
