Set on a 36-acre campus in Commack, NY, the Gurwin Healthcare System includes the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, providing short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, memory care, respiratory and ventilator care, palliative and hospice care, social and medical adult day programs, and on-site dialysis and infusion therapy. Sharing the campus is Gurwin’s Assisted Living community (Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner Residences) and our independent living community (Fountaingate Gardens). We are currently seeking a full-time Timekeeper/Scheduler to work in our Nursing Department from 10:00am-6:00pm Monday through Friday with rotating weekends. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up and maintain nursing staff schedules in SmartLinx. Re-assign clocks
  • Completes, updates daily computer attendance register.
  • Update vacations and all time off.
  • Coordinate preparation of time schedule for all employees
  • Prepares special holiday schedules according to department policy.
  • Notify employees of approved time off or denial within one week of request
  • If time off is denied, communicate available options
  • Receives and implements, where appropriate, schedule change requests in coordination with the NCCs.
  • Arranges for per diem and OT coverage as necessary for schedule and daily staffing with Nursing Administration
  • Sorts paychecks and batch for distribution
  • Prepare and reconcile daily staffing sheets for accuracy
  • Arrange Aide coverage for resident medical and recreation trips.
  • Enters charge pay codes for nurses in SmartLinx
  • Available to employees on a regular basis to answer questions about payroll discrepancies, holiday, sick and vacation time usage etc.
  • Assist with other duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Experience in clerical, accounting, general office or nursing facility/hospital office work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • The ability to communicate in a pleasant, patient, effective mannel with all levels of staff.
