Tax Preparer (Drake) and Bookkeeper (QuickBooks)

$13 - $28 an hour – This is a Part-time Contract position (40 hours per week February 1st – October 15th with flexible hours; October 16th – January 31st Flexible hours, based on cross-training skilled in other areas; Bookkeeping and Legal billing.

The ideal candidate will be a quick learner interested in growing with us, so we prefer someone with excellent computer skills – QuickBooks experience is a MUST! We are looking for long-term team players, who are energetic self-starters and who thrive working independently and can work Remotely because of COVID.

Minimum two (2) years current or recent tax and bookkeeping experience with a public accounting practice.

Minimum two (2) years of experience using QuickBooks (online and/or desktop). Experience using Drake tax software, ATOM (Automated Tax Office Management Software), and Receipt Bank, a plus.

Preference will be given to applicants who have experience using Drake tax software, and business tax preparation experience with a commercial tax preparation software.

The salary is based on weekly production. A commitment of at least 20 hours per week is required, but 40 or more would be preferred. The assignment would start when you complete our 4 to 16-week training program. The stronger your tax skills, the shorter the training period should be. The training is paid training, provided that a candidate scores 70% or higher on our tax assessment quiz. If a candidate scores less than 70%, they can still be hired, but the training will be unpaid until the candidate shows proficiency in doing the work.

A Tax Assessment Quiz will be given over the phone, the Candidate should allow 40 minutes to complete. Normally the quiz is given person, but due to COVID-19, it is done over a Zoom video session on the phone.

The Candidate needs Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to meet strict client and regulatory imposed deadlines.

QuickBooks Skills

• Setting up and configuring new QuickBooks files
• Setting up job costing
• Fixing “Broken” QuickBooks
• Transferring data between QuickBooks and other applications
• Conversion from other applications to QuickBooks

Legal Billing: Time Slips is the software that is used by another profit center that is year-round production. Experience with TimeSlips software is a plus.

Duties include:

• Conducting Zoom webinars or face-to-face tax entrance/exit interviews with the clients
• Preparing complete and accurate BUSINESS tax returns, Sch C’s, E’s, 1120s, and 1065s.

COVID-19 considerations:
To keep our staff safe, we have limited the staff that can work in the office to 4 per shift, and we've limited client contact to drive-by, drop off of their tax packages. We also provide masks, gloves, and sanitizer to the staff at the office.
