Summary:

Cordis Corporation, a medical device manufacturing company previously owned by Cardinal Health, was just sold to a large hedge fund company and they are putting together a large team to help with the migration and integrations of the applications. This environment is primarily in the Cloud so the hiring manager is looking for someone primarily who understands Oracle Cloud and ideally Azure. Someone who understand these two environments with a Microsoft System Engineering background they will perform well. Cordis is looking to keep this team together for an ongoing basis where they can continue to build and grow this new environment.


Must Haves:

Cloud Systems Engineering/Admin experience – Azure and Oracle Cloud

Local on-prem sys admin tasks – Microsoft AD, SCCM, Windows server admin work, cloud backup restore of a server

Create runbook for Disaster Recovery


Day to Day:

• Cordis runs their environment in Oracle Cloud and Azure

• Systems Engineering and administration task within Microsoft AD, SCCM, Windows server admin work, cloud backup restore of a server

• Oracle cloud is the heavy need – creating backups with VM’ s and restoring backups with another site

• Will need to be able to create something new within the environment.

• Also creating the DR runbook, how to restore VM’ s from one oracle cloud site to another.

• Since everything is in the cloud, they need someone to back everything up (can be learned). Rest of the time they will be doing everything Microsoft while every 6 months work in DR in the cloud.

Job Description:

• The Sr. Systems Engineer completes system builds, implementations, management, system monitoring and performance tuning, diagnostics and troubleshooting, user support coordination, backup and disaster recovery, data center maintenance, and other related tasks.

• Disaster Recovery Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, testing and communication of the disaster recovery plans and processes.

• Understanding of current recovery solutions and high availability is needed, as is knowledge of crisis communication solutions.

• Require excellent oral and written communication skills to convey plans, exercises, and activities.

• Must be able to interact with technical, non-technical, and management staff.

• Establish and maintain the overall plans for executing all DR procedures and understand their interdependencies.

• Establish and maintain detailed DR communications and command and control plans through a change management process.

• Work with the IT technical staff to ensure that disaster recovery solutions are adequate, in place, maintained, and tested as part of the regular operational life cycle.

• Develop and understand all testing necessary for a successful DR execution.

• Schedule and lead all DR exercises.

Notes: This is an ongoing contract and expected to be on for multiple years! They really need a strong systems engineer who has worked in an Oracle Cloud environment doing both building and administration. They also really want someone who has done disaster recovery runbooks, recoverying data if an entire location were to go down in the cloud and typical Systems Engineer/Admin tasks with Microsoft products - Microsoft AD, SCCM, Windows server admin work, cloud backup restore of a server. They do 1 and done interviews and will hire someone quickly when they find someone thats a strong fit!
