Job Summary:

The Server provides efficient food and beverage service to hotel guests in their rooms. Ability to carry trays and push carts over uneven ground and for long distances, quickly and without spilling contents.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Open side work to prepare back stations and service areas for meal service.
• Set-up tables to include flatware and condiments.
• Answer questions regarding style, presentation, quality and price of all food and beverages.
• Take the guests’ food and drink orders.
• Open wine bottle and pour wine, refilling glasses as needed.
• Observe guests’ progress and respond in a timely way to their needs.
• Carry orders on a tray to the table and serve to the correct person.
• Strive to increase the guest check though suggestive sales techniques and alternatives.
• Prepare guest check, using Micros point of sale system and collect payment.
• Maintain assigned table and station cleanliness, tidiness and order.
• Close side work, cleaning areas used and re-stocking supplies, in preparation for following day’s business.

Absolutely Required Skills:

• Food and beverage experience required.
• Clear and polite manner of communicating.
• Good math and organizational skills.
• Ability to work a varied and flexible shift.
• Food safety & TIPS certification required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for long periods of time and move frequently from area to area. Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. Ability to carry and balance dish ware and glassware in the course of service. Regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
