Position Summary

The Scientist will be leading our efforts in the design and synthesis of novel chemical compounds to help advance our non-viral delivery platform. We are searching for a driven, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual who is comfortable multitasking and working independently on various aspects of the platform. This individual will join a dynamic, rapidly growing, and highly collaborative team of LNP delivery chemistry scientists.

Responsibilities

  • Design, synthesize, and purify novel chemical compounds including, but not limited to- lipids, polymers, or bioconjugates with minimal supervision
  • Plan and execute multistep synthesis for the preparation of novel chemical compounds
  • Work closely with analytical and formulation scientists to characterize and evaluate compounds for delivery systems; analyze structure activity relationships (SAR) of the compounds and apply new learnings in new designs
  • Collaborate with IP counsels to support CRISPR Therapeutics patent applications and prosecutions
  • Utilize scientific database to stay up to date on published delivery chemistry literature

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or related field, or a M.S./B.S. degree in Chemistry with 6+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Excellent technical skills in synthetic chemistry in addition to proficiency with multi-step chemical synthesis
  • Hands on experience with NMR, MS, HPLC, TLC, and other common analytical methods
  • Pays great attention to details in the quality of the synthesized chemical compounds
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate effectively with others

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry experience in medicinal chemistry
  • Industry experience in lipid chemistry or conjugation chemistries for drug delivery
