RN Quality & Risk Manager Job at Mission East Dallas Family Health Clinic
Mission East Dallas Family Health Center (MED) is a Federally Qualified Health Center providing primary care medical, dental and behavioral health services to the communities of far East Dallas, Mesquite and surrounding areas. We are a Patient Centered Medical Home, with a focus on providing affordable, comprehensive and coordinated services to a culturally diverse patient population.
MED is actively recruiting for a Full-Time RN Quality & Risk Manager to join our awesome team and be part of our expansion!
RISK MANAGEMENT DUTIES:
· Proactively evaluates areas of organizational risk based on internal assessment and external benchmarking and implements strategies and policies that promote patient and staff safety.
· Promotes the occurrence reporting process including trending and reporting of results, identification of problem-prone areas, and facilitation of prevention initiatives.
· Directs the investigation of all potentially compensable events (preventable adverse events).
· Leads the review of serious occurrences requiring root-cause analysis or failure mode and effects analysis. Disseminates lessons learned and process improvement plans.
· Meets regularly with leadership to provide detailed reports on all serious incidents, claims, and risk-related issues.
· Responds to sentinel events and other serious occurrences and provides expert advice on the management and reporting of such events to administrative and clinical leadership and staff.
· Conducts immediate/appropriate response to any serious occurrence/complaint representing actual or potential patient, visitor, or employee injury. Monitors and takes subsequent actions to ensure learning, compliance, and documentation.
· Analyzes statistical reports and advisories that identify risk management and patient safety patterns and trends for leadership.
· Ensures maximum protection from discovery of all claims/potential claims materials. Coordinates claims investigation and legal defense processes.
· Serves as liaison to external regulatory agencies for purposes of patient and physician reporting, event investigation, and response.
· Keeps up to date with new and revised state and federal regulations and statutes related to patient care. Reviews and evaluates related policies and procedures and recommends revisions as needed. Creates new policies for approval, as needed.
· Actively participates in various committees as assigned.
· Annually evaluates risk management and patient safety programs.
· Develops and supervises educational programs, including risk management, for practitioners and staff.
· Assist with renewal of FTCA
· Attends conferences and trainings.
· Performs all job duties in compliance with MED Safety and Infection Control policies.
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT DUTIES:
· Promote customer-driven excellence as a driver of organizational services and goals.
· Provide leadership and direction for the practice to continually support and implement daily operations that sustain the Patient Centered Medical Home model of care.
· Train all staff on the Patient Centered Medical Home model of care at point of hire and annually.
· Assess and monitor key organizational outcomes in a systematic and ongoing nature.
· Provides guidance to staff responsible for achieving objectives related to departmental, site, and organizational operations.
· Promotes quality system uniformity and transparency across the organization.
· Responsible for the development, oversight, and/or completion of the Quality Improvement program, including risk management activities within the Quality Improvement Plan annually
· Facilitate and document minutes for monthly Quality Improvement Committee.
· Responsible for the oversight of all external accreditation activities.
· Promotes commitment to employee success by assisting in the development of high-performance work practices.
· Develops tactics to align organizational resources to achieve strategic goals.
· Assists in the development and implementation of strategic goals.
· Provides oversight for satisfaction survey activities of staff and patients
· Assists with policy and procedure revisions.
· Assists in the preparation of grant applications.
· Provides oversight for any special projects under the directives of the CMO.
· Represents the health center as a member of special committees when appropriate and/or assigned.
· Assists in developing reports as assigned by CMO to meet organizational internal and external requirements.
· Present written and/or oral report to the Board of Directors monthly as needed
SKILLS:
- Excellent leadership skills with demonstrated ability to effectively lead in a changing environment.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills to deal with physicians, staff, patients, and their families inside and outside of the health center.
- Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of organization policies & procedures, systems, and strategic objectives.
- Proven management ability and experience including a thorough understand of quality improvement processes, tools, and techniques; quality measurement and reporting; root cause analysis and preventive risk management strategies; accrediting bodies; standards; and state and federal regulations.
- Knowledge of Electronic Health (eClinicalWorks). Experience with healthcare analytics software desired.
- Must possess the ability to write reports.
- Must be an organized, persistent, creative thinker.
- Ability to function effectively, independently, and efficiently in a stressful and dynamic work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Registered Nurse with an associate degree. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Master’s preparation highly desirable.
- Minimum of three years of management work experience in a medical office or outpatient environment
- Minimum of two years of quality improvement and risk management experience required or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- Experience in processing, analyzing, compiling, and presenting statistical materials.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word computer software.
- Previous experience reviewing and understanding health data and interacting with patients and insurance carriers
