Description:

We are seeking a motivated research associate to assist in purification and characterization of recombinant proteins as part of the Core Research and Technologies Protein Solutions group within Research. This person will play an important role in supporting preclinical efforts in developing novel antibody-based therapeutics.

Principal Responsibilities

• Purification of recombinant antibodies and proteins via affinity and size exclusion chromatography
• Analytical and functional characterization of purified products using UPLC, MS and BLI techniques
• Fulfilling protein reagent requests from individuals within Research and other departments
• Documentation and tracking of reagents and requests via ELN and LIMS system
• Data analysis, report generation, and presentation of results

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or relevant field
• 0-1 years of post-baccalaureate lab experience in an academic and/or industry environment
• Familiarity with protein purification and analytical chromatography
• Experienced in balancing workload with multiple projects and/or tasks
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical, organizational, and written/oral communication skills
• Ability to learn new tasks and eventually perform routine tasks independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience with recombinant antibody purification
• Hands on experience with AKTA Avant or Pure instrumentation
• Experience using Hamilton or Tecan robotics platform
• Mammalian transfection and protein expression
• Characterization of antibodies via mass spectrometry
• Characterization of protein binding using kinetics (SPR or BLI)
• Tracking inventory and/or requests through computer systems or excel sheets
• Basic knowledge of antibody biochemistry, understanding of immunological functions and systems
