Position Summary:

The Mississippi Center for Advanced Medicine is seeking to hire a Registered Nurse for MCAM Tupelo – Pediatric Endocrinology.

Coordinated Care Model: The Mississippi Center for Advanced Medicine offers a patient and family centered care team that includes sub-specialty physicians, clinical pharmacists, specialty nursing, social work/care coordination services, patient service representatives, support staff and financial services to ensure the patient and family have all the resources necessary to navigate complex medical processes and to deliver the best possible outcomes.

Primarily based in Madison, MS, MCAM-Tupelo offers pediatric endocrinology care. This position is considered a utility position and depending on the area of greatest needs will assist the pediatric endocrinologist and other staff with patient check in, triaging phone calls, rooming patients, getting vital signs, and completing blood draws for patients with a willing and positive attitude to help.

Strives to focus on customer service, quality and gaining additional expertise in other pediatric medical and surgical service lines. Serves patient families by coordinating their patient care at MCAM and beyond. Consistently demonstrates a desire to learn new medical and administrative skills.

Position Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse certification
  • Phlebotomy certification
  • Must have experience obtaining blood draws for pediatric patients

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides culturally appropriate, compassionate care for patients and their families.
  • Can keep up in a fast-paced, very busy outpatient clinic.
  • Will also serve as the infusion nurse when needed.
  • Demonstrates a customer service minded approach to patient care.
  • Obtains prior authorizations for patient visits as needed.
  • Works to proactively schedule patients for follow up visits and schedule new patients as needed.
  • Rooms patients and obtains vital signs.
  • Draws blood on pediatric patients.
  • Provides feedback to providers and the care team regarding quality improvement.
  • Position will develop a professional and knowledgeable team approach to each new service line opportunity.
  • Dedicated to patient care and will occasionally work long hours if needed.
  • Demonstrates patience and empathy when caring for patients.
  • Flexible in approach when working with children, works diligently to make them feel safe and well cared for.
  • Actively monitors billing and coding functions for the MCAM.
  • Assist in the orientation of clinical and non-clinical staff members.
  • Obtains consent to treatment and properly documents patient encounters.
  • Helps to coordinate patient care with the endocrinologist, the care coordinator, pharmacist and other members of the care team.
  • Assists in outreach clinics for other MCAM providers for the North Mississippi market.
  • All MCAM employees are required to get an annual flu vaccine.
  • All MCAM employees are required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 prior to beginning employment according to CDC guidelines.
  • Follows ChildKind best practices regarding pain assessment, prevention, management, and documentation. Works to minimize procedure related discomfort (e.g. needle sticks).
