KRGV-TV, the ABC affiliate in the beautiful Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, is currently seeking: Receptionist / Telephone Operator.
Under general Administrative supervision, acts as a switchboard operator and receptionist, gives information to callers or transfers calls to appropriate departments; performs clerical and typing duties; and other related duties as required. The primary duty of this position is to greet clients and the general public, as well as answer incoming telephone calls, distribute in-coming and out-going mail. Occasionally, some support of social media responsibilities will be needed. There will be other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
This is a Part-Time Position.
Responsibilities

• Have communication skills.

• Basic computer skills with applications such as MS Word, MS Excel etc.

• Knowledge of general office procedures and office machines (computer, fax, and copier).

• Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.

• Operation of a centralized telephone system.

• Acceptable telephone etiquette.

• Oral and written communication skills.

• General clerical duties.

• Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Operate a centralized telephone switchboard and/or system.

• Knowledge of social media networks.

• Analyze situations accurately and exercise good judgment in taking effective action.

• Meet visitors and the public tactfully and courteously.

• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

• Answer questions in person or by telephone in a respectful manner.

• Efficiently work with frequent interruptions.

• Use basic computer programs and data systems.

• Be confidential and discreet with information.

• This position requires someone with a pleasant voice and personality.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish is necessary.
