Quality Manager
SUMMARY
This person shall aggressively ensure full implementation of a World Class Quality Management System and manage a staff that holds all areas of the facility accountable with this QMS. He/she shall also share management’s desire to grow the business established in Endicott. Reporting to the Global Quality Director, the Quality Manager perform duties personally or through their staff. This includes interfacing with engineering, production and other departments during the new product development cycle, ensuring the successful transition of new products from engineering department to production. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high technology, manufacturing environment and works well in a matrix structure across all levels of the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To ensuring proper implementation of all QMS Procedures & Practices at the manufacturing site
- Coach, Mentor and work with HR to train the staff in Quality in all aspects of inspection, root cause analysis, corrective action and tools used for those purposes.
- Communicate with customers in a timely manner.
- Monitor, Communicate & Improve both Customer and Internal KPI’s.
- Participate in the development, validation, and verification of work instructions.
- Serve as key point of contact for Customer complaints directed from Customer Service or the Customer directly for Root Cause Analysis as well as Corrective & Preventive Action and verification.
- Perform or assist Engineering in necessary analyses, tests, and other troubleshooting procedures to identify the cause of and solution to problems.
- Lead the Non-Conforming Material Process, coordinating with suppliers on purchased material and internally on material manufactured in house.
- Perform the necessary analyses of current operations, equipment, procedures and techniques.
- Provide project and technical leadership in the development, testing, documentation, and manufacturing of products while adhering to internal policies and procedures that support the scope of the Quality System.
- To perform inspection duties for incoming & outgoing materials as required.
- Write manufacturing instructions, create drawings, write protocols for verification and validation testing, and write test reports.
- Work with Manufacturing and Process Engineering to qualify and validate products for manufacturing, driving a “Zero Defect” mentality within the entire plant.
- Participating in joint evaluations and investigations with engineering to assess product anomalies and provide root cause corrective action plans
- Auditing suppliers and manufacturing sites or delegating that activity to staff as necessary.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- B.S. in Electrical, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering. M.S. in Engineering and ISO training preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of Quality Assurance experience working in new product development.
- Technical skills involving design and assembly of electromechanical equipment, fabrication, and industrial processes.
- Excellent communication skills required, including being able to work with staff in China and Mexico that have English as a second language.
- Must have computer proficiency and knowledge of MS Word.
