This position is responsible for logging and organization of samples, preparing samples for in-house and third party testing, laboratory cleaning and upkeep, and other routine support functions for the laboratory. Position maintains reagent inventory and component and finished product retains. Performs simple analysis of raw materials and finished products using wet chemistry and basic instrumentation.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates, sorts, and organizes samples for internal and external analysis.
  • Prepare shipments for external analysis
  • Supports retain program for raw material, packaging component, and finished product
  • Performs physical testing of raw materials and finished product
  • Performs routine verifications of laboratory equipment and systems
  • Assists with washing laboratory glassware
  • Reads, reviews and follows Test Methods and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Performs physical and organoleptic testing (e.g. taste, appearance, odor, etc.) on components and finished products
  • Releases raw materials and packaging components in the ERP system
  • Accurately documents testing in laboratory notebook or approved form, as applicable.
  • Notifies QC management of out of specification (OOS) and supports investigations
  • Maintains reagent, QC samples, and other laboratory inventories.
  • Properly disposes of chemicals completing necessary forms as applicable

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Experience working independently and as part of a team in a manufacturing environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Can stay on task and manage workload with limited direct supervision
  • Ability to resolve issues with co-workers or customers to reach mutually acceptable outcomes
  • Basic understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to maintain complete and legible documentation
  • Attention to detail with the ability to complete work assignments according to deadlines and maintain thorough documentation of daily activities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk throughout the building. The employee is frequently required to reach and perform routine tasks with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch.


The employee may be required to lift up to 25 pounds and move up to 50 pounds on occasion. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 1st shift, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
