By reviewing every customer-facing deliverable—email, social media, web, print, video—the Proofreader is responsible for ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal guidelines. Additionally, this position is tasked with promoting and strictly adhering to brand guidelines and set style standards, while looking for and recommending opportunities to communicate more efficiently and effectively. While proofreading is the primary responsibility of this position, copywriting and creative brainstorming responsibilities may be included.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Prioritizes projects, ensuring zero-error quality control
• Ensures across-the-board consistency of institutional messaging and style, keeping up with legal changes and boundaries
• Proofs marketing, advertising and social projects for both digital and print, correcting all grammatical, typographical or compositional errors in addition to verifying information while ensuring brand style, tone and legal compliance
• Updates all marketing materials based on new/updated formulations, FDA alerts, revisions to Copy Library entries, etc.
• Prioritizes projects based on deadlines and resources, ensuring deadlines are met and references are verified
• Copy edits required on occasion
• Keeps an updated style guide and manual of disclaimers, registration marks and other Life Extension standards for copy
• Reviews digital marketing material (promotional emails, landing pages on company website, informational blogs, etc.) ensuring content is error-free and all hyperlinks function and direct to the appropriate web pages
• Proactively recommend improvements to proofreading protocols
• 50% onsite attendance is an essential function of this position
• Other duties, as assigned

Position Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism or related field
• 2+ years’ experience in an editing and/or proofreading role; experience working with highly technical medical and/or nutritional information a strong plus; ability to edit in HTML a plus
• Knowledge of style manuals (AP or Chicago); Demonstrated understanding of AMA style for research references
• Extreme attention to detail – work must be accurate and received within set deadline
• Excellent communication skills; verbal & written
• Flexibility to adapt to ever changing environment; flexible to work overtime for high-priority projects as needed
• Experience in a direct mail environment helpful
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment
