Hood Packaging is currently recruiting for a Printing Technician for our Hazleton, PA facility who will be responsible for Employee is responsible for replacing printing cylinders, maintaining ink for printer, participating in machine changeovers, cleaning work area, and assisting other employees.

Duties and Responsibilities

• This position requires standing/walking on a frequent basis to maintain press.
• Replace/remove ink pans and doctor blades.
• Lift buckets of ink weighing up to 50lbs on an infrequent basis.
• Complete documentation/inspection of ink including ph and viscosity every hour.
• Change rolls of paper by pushing rolls on an infrequent/ occasional basis.
• Operate control panel at 48in high.
• Remove strip waste from rolls.
• Web printer as needed.
• Operate chain hoist to replace cylinders and anilox as needed
• Clean work area.
• Comply with all company safety rules.
• Assist in assuring HACCP, GMP’s Work Instructions and Safe Quality Food System requirements (SQF) are in compliance.

Knowledge and Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift and carry a maximum of 50 lbs. from on location to another using correct/accessory equipment.
• Must have good eyesight to visually inspect print for quality and/or deficiencies of print.
• Must be able to climb, crawl and bend over and under equipment to make necessary adjustments and/or repairs on press.
• Must be able to stand for extended period time.
• Must be able to communicate orally and in writing to fulfill job orders in a safe and efficient manner.
• Must be able to inspect product for quality.
• Must be able to maintain equipment, clean, and clear jams.
• Ability to communicate with other crew members.
• Hazards are those normally associated with a plant position and include: noise levels above 85 decibels, warm building temperature during mid-summer months.
