Position Responsibilities and Requirements:
- Certified pesticide applicator.
- Daily pesticide applications.
- Tree injections, spraying, soil injections, soil drenches, root pruning and fertilizations.
- Able to diagnose disease or insect pests.
- Installation of canopy support systems.
- Accurately calculate pesticide mixes and correct dosages.
- Ability to fix pumps and small parts that wear on equipment.
- Arrive to work on time ready to work a full day in adverse weather.
- Inventory of materials in truck for the completion of daily work orders.
- Able to effectively organize and lead a crew in the completion of daily work orders.
- Complete job site briefings with entire crew and answer any questions about the job at hand.
- Able to legally drive and operate commercial vehicles in accordance with Michigan laws.
- Educate and train fellow employees to promote skill advancement.
- Must be capable of heavy lifting, be physically fit and must be able to hear verbal instructions from a distance.
- Able to pass drug screen and physical before employment.
Daily Preparations:
- Complete a morning vehicle and equipment inspection (including oil and fluids if you are driving).
- Work in conjunction with entire crew to ensure trucks and equipment inventory are stocked for a full day’s work.
- Keep assigned equipment and trucks clean and orderly.
- Winterization of equipment at end of season.
- Safety Requirements:
- Follow safe handling and storage requirements for pesticides according to labels.
- Wear proper personal protection items.
- Use required safety equipment.
- Follow safety guidelines throughout the day and at all locations.
- Report any loss or damage to equipment to crew leader.
- Safeguard public and employees from worksite hazards.
Customer Service:
- Protect customers’ property.
- Report and damage to customers’ property immediately to crew leader. If you are a crew leader, report to division manager.
