About Us

Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth was founded in 1970 and is now in its’ 53rd year of service to the communities of Lewes, Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach, Harbeson & Milton. Our Mission is to feed the homebound and reduce the alternative of institutionalization. Last year over 127,000 meals were served to 435 clients. Eighteen routes a day are driven by volunteer drivers delivering meals 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year using their own vehicles. Meals are partially funded through a contract with the State of Delaware Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities. The remaining funding for meals is raised through fundraising and donations from local businesses and citizens. Our office location is 32409 Lewes Georgetown

Highway and meals are catered by Fish On restaurant in Lewes.

We are seeking a new member of our team in the role of Full Time Outreach Worker. We work together as a team to accomplish the agency’s mission to feed the homebound while giving our clients a higher quality of life through improved nutrition and other services as needed. About the Job

Summary

Responsible for performance of client assessments conducted on homebound recipients for eligibility determination of program services. Conducts in-home and telephone assessments and provides referral service information based on assessment outcomes. Assists with program fundraisers, special events and general office duties as needed

Skill Requirements

Ability to effectively communicate and relate to an elderly population and use discretion when conducting interviews of a sensitive nature. Maintaining confidentiality is a must. Experience with similar types of programs or organizations is preferred. Minimum high school diploma required. Must have vehicle and current insurance.
