Responsibilities:
The
Operations Manager is accountable for leading the manufacturing and distribution functions for the
Ontario, CA facility. Role supports, directs and manages the operational staff. Role will direct and ensure excellence in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People through the deployment and execution of robust systems and processes.
Core Accountabilities
- Direct and build a high-performing team through effective leadership techniques and training; leading by example, instill the characteristics of an ideal team player – Humble, Hungry, Smart and Servant Leadership.
- Champion the Safety First Culture; lead and engage in safety improvement initiatives as identified and support the VPP safety system and certification process.
- Champion and drive the execution of the WMS Operational Excellence platform to drive sustainable transformation and business results.
- Support the initiatives championed by operational leadership, aligning with the operational roadmap. Implement and sustain these initiatives related to technology, automation and best practices.
- Support execution of capital projects and plans, both driven from the site’s operational needs and the strategic needs of Wieland.
- Champion a “zero defect” culture through the deployment of effective quality systems and ISO standards; effectively manage all ISO and quality audits (ISO, Aerospace Standard, Level 1) to ensure certification sustainment.
- Support the design, deployment and execution of maintenance systems to achieve best-in-class equipment reliability and capability.
- Manage variable costs; design and deploy strategies that allow the business to flex costs, based on demand, to achieve targeted variable unit costs per pound at the site level.
- Champion “customer excellence” through best-in-class delivery performance; work collaterally with the Supply Chain Manager and team to develop and execute S&OP plans that target high levels of delivery performance with least amount of working capital / inventory.
- Support the Regional Operations Manager with other initiatives and needs as requested.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing/Operations, or an equivalent level of experience.
- 5 plus years’ experience leading manufacturing sites.
- 3 plus years’ experience facilitating continuous improvement using lean tools and methods to driving cultural transformations in an operational environment.
- Strong business and financial acumen.
- Self- motivated, high energy and data-driven.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal communication skills and organization skills.
- Experience managing, coaching, and mentoring others.
- Ability to communicate and work with people at all levels of the business – internal and external.
- Critical Computer skills required MS Office suite of products.
- Managing Complexity – collecting and analyzing data to evaluate systems/processes and identifying the need to initiate change to improve system efficiency
- Decision Making – ability to bring the appropriate people and information together to make timely decisions.
- Influence – ability to shape the course of action through persuasion and negotiations.
- Analytical – ability to employ a systematic approach to problem solving.

- 401(k) Returement Savings Plan: Your allowable contribution is 0% to 80% of base pay. Wieland will contribute 50% of first 6% of your eligible compensation contributed to the plan. If you are under age 45, you are eligible for a 5% Wieland contribution. If you are over age 45, you are eligible for a 7.5% Wieland contribution.
