Mental Health Crisis Specialist [Full-Time] Job at Sierra Mental Wellness Group

The Crisis Specialist is responsible for providing crisis services throughout San Luis Obispo County by way of mental health evaluations.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform mental health assessments and 5150 evaluations
- Provide crisis intervention for individuals who are in distress
- Provide brief, stabilizing counseling
- Provide referral, linkage to community resources and follow-up
- Complete forms with clients who are to receive ongoing mental health services
- Assist mental health clients in obtaining social and other human services
- Communicate directly and effectively with other professionals involved
- Other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications and Characteristics:
- Master’s degree in a behavioral sciences field required
- If licensed or license eligible, license or associate number must be unrestricted per the California Board of Behavioral Sciences
- At least two (2) years of experience in crisis support services
- Demonstrated skills in crisis evaluation
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate communication between/among multiple entities
Essential Physical & Mental Functions:
- Function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with clients, staff and support agencies.
- Able to relate to and work with mentally ill, disabled, emotionally upset and at times hostile people.
- Communicate clearly in person, over the telephone, and in groups.
- Possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Travel among program sites and community locations.
- Operate office equipment such as computers, copier equipment, facsimile and telephone.
Schedule:
- 40 hours per week
- 8 hour shifts
- Monday – Friday from 8am-5pm
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.50 - $34.50 per hour
