Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Board of Directors, the Marketing and Events Manager is to enhance and improve fundraising events, organization, marketing, programs and the overall financial performance of the Grand County Blues Society (GCBS). The staff member in this position may prepare reports, solicit donors or sponsors, manage volunteers and organize music events such as Blues from the Top Music Festival, Blue Star Denver, Annual Fundraising Drive, National Blue Star Connection fundraisers and Club Shows. This position requires strong marketing and computer skills and is required to make changes to the website, promote events thru social media and manage a database for ticket purchasers, donors, volunteers, vendors and sponsors. While duties follow prescribed policies and procedures, the Marketing and Events Manager is expected to act responsibly and independently in performing these duties. Under the advisement of the GCBS Board of Directors the Operations Manager will strive to fulfill the following:
Overall Responsibility:
1. Maintain a strong audience base by maintaining open lines of communications with Grand County Blues Society event attendees, sponsors, donors, volunteers and other business and community partners.
2. Works to build music events, marketing, fundraising efforts and financial performance.
3. Will evaluate and monitor programs of work regularly and recommend changes when needed.
4. Will assist with operations of all events and activities conducted by the GCBS.
Position Qualifications
Education required: High School diploma and/or continued education.
Experience required: Employee must have strong skills in the following areas; communication, computer/donor software, word processing, proofreading, networking, negotiating, fundraising, event management and financial analysis. The employee must also possess strong experience in building collaboration in community and working with teams to accomplish tasks.
Additional desirable experience: Knowledge of the Winter Park/Fraser Valley area. Organizational skills and flexibility regarding time demands. Must be able to work effectively with people and have strong presentation skills.
Physical Requirements: Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include sitting, walking and standing for extended periods of time, occasionally lift and carry objects up to 40 pounds, occasionally bend, twist, squat, kneel and reach above shoulder.
Other qualifications: Able to work long hours, a varied schedule and under pressure when necessary. A valid Colorado driver’s license required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintain the quality of the newsletter.
2. Solicitation of sponsorships and donor funds.
3. Design and maintain marketing and informational materials for the GCBS.
4. Manages all event and fundraising thru our Customer Relationship Management Software (NEON).
5. Solicits volunteers and drives community activation.
6. Oversees all event functions including but not limited to; Marketing, ticketing, volunteers, sponsorships, food & beverage, gate, talent acquisition and operations.
7. Lead or assist with fundraising events produced by third parties that benefit the GCBS or any of its programs.
8. Document and implement all processes of the organization.
9. Create annual budget and oversee all financials.
10. Oversee or manage all GCBS programs including Blue Star Connection, Blues From The Top Festival, Check out the Music and Blues in the Schools.
11. Responsible for all fundraising and for meeting fundraising budgets including grant writing.
Compensation:
Marketing and Events Manager pays $60k annual
