FRAME Lab Coordinator (Research Technician)

The UConn Stamford Family Resilience And Mindfulness Empowerment (FRAME) Lab, directed by Dr. Na Zhang in the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences, is looking for a lab manager/research coordinator beginning as soon as possible. The FRAME Lab Coordinator will work closely with Dr. Na Zhang and oversee all research-related projects, tasks and activities at the UConn Stamford campus. Responsibilities of the FRAME Lab Coordinator will include:

  • Managing daily laboratory tasks that include research participants’ recruitment, screening, eligibility determination, scheduling of data collection (in the lab, in family homes, or virtual).
  • Overseeing undergraduate and graduate research assistants’ research tasks and activities.
  • Managing and maintaining participant databases, data and research participants’ protection, IRB protocols, expenses- and budgeting-related tasks and activities.
  • Updating lab news on lab website and social media accounts.
  • Attending FRAME lab meetings on a weekly basis (or as needed).
  • Assisting with organizing training events for students.
  • Assisting with organizing outreach events with local communities.
  • Managing data entry and manipulation.
  • Assisting with grant proposals.
  • Assisting with conference abstracts and manuscripts submissions, with opportunities to become a co-author and/or conduct their own independent research projects.

This position is idea for individuals interested in hands-on research after completing a clinically oriented degree in child psychology and/or before pursuing a graduate degree in developmental psychology, clinical psychology, prevention science, or human development and family sciences, public health, or related fields.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Sciences, Psychology, or related fields
  • Past experience working in a research lab that conducts human subjects research
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent ability to work both independently and with others
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Detail-oriented and excellent at administrative tasks
  • Strong skills using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Able to occasionally work nonstandard hours (e.g., evenings, weekends), depending on data collection needs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with families and children/adolescents.
  • Analytical skills (e.g., SPSS, R, Mplus, SAS).
  • Experience administering studies in Qualtrics.
  • Experience of conducting psychophysiological research (e.g., heart rate variability, skin conductance).
  • Past experience of conducting family observation research.
  • Has own car and can travel if needed (e.g., traveling to community agencies for research recruitment).

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This position is part-time. The initial appointment would be up to 20 hours per week for six months, with the possibility to extend. Start date is negotiable. The position requires working in the lab at UConn Stamford building located at 1 University Place, Stamford, CT 06901.

Salary: $17-$20/hour depending on experience, 20 hours/week
