Position Description
*This is a remote position, candidates from all US geographies will be considered.*
Our 2023 Summer internship program is an 8 week Paid Internship that runs from June 5 – July 28. The program will join interns across the country who are supporting different department focuses at American Cancer Society. 80% of the time will be in working within the given department, with the Intern's manager, their mentor, and the team. The other 20% will be with a cohort of other interns around American Cancer Society.
- Principal - senior-level fundraiser, this team is responsible for securing major gifts of $1 million or greater
- Foundation Relations - supports revenue goals by soliciting new, increased, and renewed funding from private foundations across the country, primarily major gifts of $10,000+ in the philanthropy space. Additionally, provides grant writing support to other verticals for significant or high-probability foundation solicitations.
- Leadership Annual Giving - donor cultivation, stewardship and relationship building with annual giving donors. This includes year-round communication, ensuring high-quality stewardship through thoughtful, curated, and personalized correspondence
- Donor Management and Operations - supports donor management operations and prospect development specific to philanthropy work through individual giving and foundation relations. This includes donor analytics, research, giving capacity, and portfolio building
- Thrive on collaboration, with a team approach in all aspects of the position as this role will work to support multiple Philanthropy teams
- Create and manager special projects, proposals and reports
- Quick leaner with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time well
- Must be flexible, resourceful and proactive
- Ability to be an ambassador for the organization and at all times, understanding our mission, funding pillars and priorities
Position Requirements
Must be available Mon-Fri at 37.5 hours per week for the entirety of the 8 week internship program, June 5 - July 28th. Flexible scheduling may be offered on a case by case basis.
Full-time student, If you are an undergraduate student you have completed your freshman year of college;
Have a minimum of a B average (cumulative 3.0 on 4.0 scale);
Plan to continue their education in the following term/semester

The starting rate is $15.00 to $18.00 per hour. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended.
