Position Description

Our 2023 Summer internship program is an 8 week Paid Internship that runs from June 5 – July 28. The program will join interns across the country who are supporting different department focuses at American Cancer Society. 80% of the time will be in working within the given department, with the Intern's manager, their mentor, and the team. The other 20% will be with a cohort of other interns around American Cancer Society.


The intern for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team provides assistance with operational aspects of the DEI programs which include research, data collection, evaluation, and project development. Primary responsibilities include collaborating with DEI team members to assist with data tracking, assessments, findings, and research as following:


  • Create and maintain a database of DEI partners to track stakeholders, report impacts, and maintain relationships.
  • Track data, pull reports, and analyze findings to monitor workforce diversity and operational dashboards to ensure deliverables are being met.
  • Assist with the assessments and analysis efforts for DEI learning programs and activities. Tasks include designing survey questions, analyzing collected data, and proposing ways to capture data.
  • Support the planning, development, and execution of the Environmental Social Governance (ESG) project. Tasks include reviewing literature and research on emerging ESG studies, writing summaries, and developing slides and collateral design.


Position Requirements

Must be available Mon-Fri at 37.5 hours per week for the entirety of the 8 week internship program, June 5 - July 28th. Flexible scheduling may be offered on a case by case basis.

Full-time student, If you are an undergraduate student you have completed your freshman year of college;

Have a minimum of a B average (cumulative 3.0 on 4.0 scale);

Plan to continue their education in the following term/semester

The starting rate is $15-$18. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
