Digital Forensics Lab Manager Job at Contact Government Services, LLC
One of the leading boutique eDiscovery vendors in Washington, DC, is seeking a Digital Forensics Lab Manager whose primary focus will be managing the team responsible for data preservation & collection of various digital sources. This candidate should be fluent in a broad range of forensic technologies and interested in taking on a primary role in quickly expanding forensics department. This position will include travel for on-site collection efforts as well as an in-office presence at the primary firm office which includes the forensics lab and data center. DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
- Manage the forensic data collections and analysis processes in both on-site and remote capacity
- Coordinate directly with business development, project management, and legal teams to define project scope
- Oversee in developing, documenting, and refining procedures around capabilities to accomplish industry standard best practices
- Ensure all chain of custody best practices are executed based on the rules of evidence
- Work closely with sales team to enhance forensic offerings with corporations and law firms to boost department footprint and revenue
- Provide clients with accurate project estimates and identify areas of upsell to increase department revenue
- Provide department vision through process improvement, innovation, leadership, and industry trends
- Assist sales team by attending meetings to understand client’s forensic needs and craft custom solutions
- Mentor a team of forensic analysts through training and quality control
- Complete additional duties assigned by manager
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of an undergraduate degree, preferably in Digital Forensic Science or Computer Science/Engineering
- 5+ years of relevant experience in where the analyst understands the forensic lifecycle and can properly perform scoping activities, evidence acquisitions on a range of devices, and execute forensic analysis at an intermediate to expert level
- Possess at least one industry standard certification (EnCE, CCE, CCFE, GCFE, GCFA, CCO, CCPA, CCME, etc.)
- Experience using industry standard forensic tools such as EnCase, Cellebrite, Axiom, BlackLight, FTK Imager, MacQuisition, X1, Logicube Falcon, and Metaspike FEC
- n-depth understanding of Mac/Windows filesystems, mobile devices, and encryption
- Experience forensically preserving desktops, laptops, mobile devices/tablets, servers, both cloud and on-premise email implementations, non-traditional cloud data sources, social media, etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully in both verbally and in written format to technical/non-technical clients and team members
- Ability to work extended hours when necessary to manage team and client deadlines
- Ability to demonstrate superior organizational skills with an acute attention to detail
- Ability to document forensic workflows based on sound industry practice
- Must be willing to travel on short notice based on client need; must have valid passport for occasional international travel
- Must be an energetic self-starter who can work within a team environment but also independently as the situation requires
- Strong troubleshooting skills coupled with the ability to solution on the fly to solve complex problems
THE FOLLOWING SKILLS ARE PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- Prior experience managing a team of forensic analysts
- Understanding of the electronic discovery reference model (EDRM)
- General knowledge of litigation support applications (e.g. Relativity, Concordance, Nuix, LAW PreDiscovery, etc.)
- Experience working with structured data exported from various platforms including analysis, custom scripting, and data manipulation to develop reports for client use
- Understanding of (Robo/Rich) copy tools, BAT (PowerShell) scripting, and Active Directory permissions
- Experience with scripting, programming/coding, database languages (SQL, VB, HTML, Access, etc.)
