Position Title: Device, Tech and Innovation Program Manager, L’Oreal Tech Incubator

Department/Location: L'Oreal Research & Innovation Augmented Beauty / Tech Incubator – Jersey City, New Jersey (Hybrid)


Major Function


The L’Oréal Tech Incubator is looking for a Technical Program Manager with a 5 to 7 years of experience in devices for consumers.


You will be responsible for framing, leading, and delivering in a cross functional team environment the product development of medical devices. The new hire will have the responsibility to deliver these products partnering with external start-ups and world-class partners. Knowledges on the US regulation such FDA regulation and process to deploy on the market are preferred.


You will be comfortable with open challenges and sometimes ambiguity the program manager will have the impact to transform our organization with new product and process from design practices to commercial life and after market surveillance.

Our mission is to revolutionize beauty through technology by delivering to market new consumer products that combine state-of-the-art cosmetic formula, software, and hardware. For example, our global team has launched Skinceuticals Custom D.O.S.E, YSL Rouge Sur Mesure, among others and recently announced Colorsonic at CES 2022.


This position requires occasional domestic and international travel (~10%)


Specific Job Responsibilities Include:


Bringing medical device to consumer for next generation cosmetics

  • FDA application process know how and implementation in real project condition
  • Capacity to analyze, define protocols and follow-up clinicals studies of our technologies
  • Assess and test technologies performance objectively
  • Problem solving driven on project, process, product
  • Scientific and biology expertise to identify risks on safety and product early in the design process
  • Master the documentation in MD frame including revision control, post market surveillance and feedback loop.
  • Already performed certification process of medical device class 1 and class 2 successfully
  • Confirmed experience in the manufacturing of a medical device and its management on the field
  • Interest in one or several fields such as electronics, mechanics, software industrial design is a plus


Transform a vision into a product with project management

  • Translate business visions into product definition. Challenge and propose alternatives and come up with creative solution to fulfill marketing vision.
  • Be driven by passion for consumer experience at the core
  • Pay attention to product detail and quality
  • Able to synthesize highly complex problems with multiple variables down to simple solutions and concrete action items
  • Collaborate with project managers to optimize product costs and margin for compelling business plan
  • Make decision based on data and propose options to the team and top management
  • Source, collaborate with key external partner engineering, manufacturer, labs
  • Manage the communication of status, risk disposition to all stakeholders, including senior management, on a timely manner
  • Communicate clearly and adapt the content to relevant audience, escalate smartly to get things done
  • Ensure timing and quality
  • Establish and track budget of your projects
  • Apply for patents


Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 5 to 7+ years of experience in successfully launching to consumer products. Medical device classification class 1 and 2 experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred in engineering, design, management or other relevant fields preferred
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Experience with clinical studies and data preferred
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent, ongoing basis, without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Thorough technical understanding and base knowledge to influence project decisions
  • Obsessed with product and end-to-end consumer experience
  • Strategic doer, comfortable to make effective trade off and prioritization
  • Can execute and find opportunities to innovate in ambiguous and changing environments and demonstrates both a flexible and resilient approach
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with process-oriented execution with highly focused attention to details
  • Demonstrated adeptness with diplomacy and influence skills
  • Treats people with respect and able to receive/provide constructive feedback to drive positive changes
