POSITION: Community Support Specialist
SUMMARY OF POSITION: An hourly position which provides 25 hour per week of support services to a 22-year-old man who needs transportation and one on one support towards participating in engaging activities like attending the Learning Collaborative, visiting farms, library and/or supporting the individual towards interests that he finds of benefit. Engaging and encouraging him to participate in a variety of community and peer activities is a priority.
The ideal candidate will have a sense of humor, flexibility, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, good boundaries, patience, and empathy and respect towards all people.
Responsibilities:
- Foster community integration
- Assist individual in community activities and self-advocacy.
- Assist individual with making and keeping appointments.
- Record detailed information and complete all agency required electronic paperwork in a timely manner.
- Transport client in your own vehicle to and from community activities, appointments, and home ** carrying adequate auto insurance coverage is required.
- Follow all the behavioral and crisis plans that may be in place.
- Familiarize, implement, and comply with WCMHS policies and procedures
- Follow supervision directives
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with individuals with autism and seizures
preferred. Candidates with SLP training preferred. A valid driver's license, excellent driving record, and a safe, insured vehicle are required. High school diploma or equivalent needed. Some college preferred.
